An obscure, nightmarish premonition prompts the sudden return of Doveed to his hometown, triggering a process of confrontation with the neglect of its past. In the wake of a childhood friend's suicide, he reenters a religious community ruined by the daily brutalities of an unspeakable denial and locked in a lingering standstill with seemingly no way out. He crosses paths with many lost souls drowning in the shadows of a collective guilt too great to bear on their own. The most spiritually devastated of them all is a lawyer by the name of Howard who may have used his power many years ago to bend the rules of justice, inadvertently unleashing a tidal wave of trauma upon many innocent children within the community.
